Aster

Aster

Asters are daisy-like perennials with starry-shaped flower heads. They bring delightful color to the garden in late summer and autumn when many of other summer blooms may be fading. The plant’s height ranges from 8 inches to 8 feet, depending on the type. Asters attract butterflies to the garden. Tall varieties should be staked in order to keep them upright. Pinch the young shoots to encourage bushiness.

Asters in the Seward Park Garden

Our asters grow about 3 to 4 feet tall. Most years they need staking. In dry times they need water.
